Course & Project Description
There are 3 major assignments for the course ME303 Introduction to Mechanical Design in Fall 2019. The scope of the course will be mainly focused on the mechanisms of machines and machine design, involving mechanics.
Your first assignment is to complete the mechanism design experiments and submit the experiment reports. This part will be finished in the first two sessions (1 & 2).
Your second assignment is to design a dual-output robotic joint. The joint should be able to transmit torque, speed and change orientation. The following requirement should be fulfilled: the size is within 200mm x 200mm x 200mm; the number of drivers is 2. This part starts at session 3 and ends in session 13 (3 – 13). Your third assignment is to design a shaft used in the decelerator. This part will be finished in the last three sessions (14, 15, 16).
Parts (for the joint project only)
The major design will be your responsibility, including the materials for fabricating the components, even though some common parts such as screws and caps will be provided. Meanwhile, the tools for fabrication will also be provided. For customized requirement, one possible way is to purchase through the platform and reimburse.
